Office 2007 |
To open Microsoft Office 2007 files with Microsoft Office 2003, 2002, or 2000, you must install the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for 2007 Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint File Formats and any necessary Office updates. By using the Compatibility Pack for the 2007 Office system, you can open, edit some items, and save Office 2007 files in previous versions of Office.
When you open a file in a Microsoft Office 2007 program that was created in Microsoft Office 2003, 2002, or 2000, Compatibility Mode is turned on, and you see Compatibility Mode in the title bar of the document window. Compatibility Mode ensures that no new or enhanced features in Office 2007 are available while you are working with a file, so that people who are using previous versions of Office will have full editing capabilities.
You can work in Compatibility Mode or you can convert files to the Office 2007 file format. Converting files allows access to the new and enhanced features in Office 2007. However, people who are using previous versions of Office may be prevented from or have difficulty editing certain portions of the file that were created by using new or enhanced features in Office 2007.
